Jamshed Bhabha Theatre

National Center of Performing Arts(NCPA), Mumbai

The Jamshed Bhabha Theatre is a 1109 seater theater within the NCPA premises in downtown Mumbai. This facility is equipped with state-of-the-art stagecraft and engineering. It has been used to host staged Indian epics and classical concerts to western operas and ballets. The theatre underwent a major catostrophy prior to its orginal opening date on new years eve 1998 when a electrical short circuit caused a fire which burnt down the entire structure. However DrBhabha was committed to rebuild the entire theatre and began reconstruction plans from the next day. The theatre was re-built using Structural Steel to ensure a quick Structural Fire Protection was the call of the hour and Newkem delivered a complete Fire Protection solution for the structure using Mandolite CP2 – a lightweight vermiculite cement based fire resistive coating. The extensive testing, certification and easy spray application and of the CP2 system made it the most appropriate solution for the project. The theatre was rebuilt within a short span 23 months and commissioned on 24th November 1999. Services: Structural Fire Protection Industry: Theatre
